    Watch the documentary below about homophobia in football and write a 300 word essay on the questions below. During your studies you will look at lots of issues in sport and you will look at innovative ways on how your generation can make a difference. 

    Whilst watching the documentary, we want you to put yourself in the role of a Sports Development Officer working for your favourite sports team. Your job is to think of ways to make your sports club more welcoming to the LGBT+ community. Try and answer the following questions:

      • What are the barriers for LGBT+ people in your sport?
      • What could you do as a Sports Development Officer to make LGBT+ people feel more welcome in your sport?
      • What initiatives\events could you come up with to promote an inclusive environment at your club? (Try and not use initiatives already being used such as Rainbow Laces)

        We want you to watch the following BBC short programme on Colin Kaepernick and his stance to kneel during the American National Anthem. You will need to write a 300 word essay on this subject. Whilst watching the documentary think about the following question:

          • Do athletes have a right to protest at their work place?
          • Are athletes role models? If so, should they be neutral on political arguments?
          • Is there a “good” time or place for engaging in protests for athletes?
          • What’s the significance of this action taking place at sporting event?
          • Was Colin Kaepernick right to protest in this way?
